Nuts and Bolts of Data Processing in School Counseling

Participants will learn the basic and intermediate -- yet powerful -- features of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to deal with data and accountability in school counseling.

Sample Objectives:

  • import data into Excel
  • export data to other file formats when needed
  • insert, delete, and format columns, rows, or cells
  • insert common formulas such as percent, percent change, sum, mean, median, mode, and others
  • perform subtotals, especially among student demographic data
  • create appropriate charts
  • copy charts to other applications such as multimedia and word processing for the purpose of reporting
  • sort data
